Group Aims to Draft Jeb for Governor (Again)
A group calling itself "Florida Grassroots for Jeb" has launched a new website. Now that Governor Crist has announced he will be running for Senate, the group's goal is to convince Jeb Bush to once again run for Governor.
The new website's address is: JebAgainIn10.com
The group's open letter to former Governor Bush:
Dear Gov. Bush,
With the recent announcement that Gov. Crist will run for Mel Martinez' U.S. Senate seat, Floridians need to make certain proven leadership is restored to the Executive Office of Governor.
During this exceptional period of financial unrest and the historic unemployment rate in Florida, we need an exceptional solution and leader to steer us through this.
We appeal to you Gov. Bush, because of the dedication you exemplified and love we know you have for Florida, to step to the plate to help save our state by running for governor again. You left office with a 65% approval rating after being the only twice elected Republican governor ever. This demonstrates what strong bipartisan support you enjoy statewide.
Our request is not without precedent. Heroic Founding Father, Patrick Henry, was the governor of Virginia 5 times. Another great Florida quarterback like yourself, Tim Tebow, is also returning to lead his team for a third title this year.
With your stellar record of achievements and success in everything from the economy to Education Reform and managing 8 major hurricanes which hit Florida in 2 years, we call on you to offer your steady hand and vision which is necessary to set Florida back on course again. Your supporters are mobilizing across the state and we await your prayerful decision.
Thank you for the selfless leadership you have provided our state.

Florida Grassroots for Jeb
What are the chances that Bush might take them up on the idea?
A few months back, following the announcement that Senator Martinez would not seek re-election, many expected that Bush would jump into the race. However, it was not to be. Following weeks of speculation, Bush declared himself officially out of consideration for the race.
The day the announcement came, capital newspaper The Hill reported the following:
Cornyn said he does not expect former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) to change his mind regarding the race. Bush announced last week that he would not seek the seat.
“He was interested in two things: Whether he could make a difference here, and the impact on his family,” Cornyn said. “In the end, the impact on his family is the thing that made him decide not to run. I guess he felt like our quality of life as senators was not entirely wonderful.”
While that may be so, Bush is clearly familiar with the requirements of being Governor of Florida. And the fact that he even opened himself up to publicly consider running for anything in 2010 gives a clue that he’s interested in getting back into the game.
Will it be Jeb Again in 2010? Time will tell.
