The 2009 Jacksonville Jazz Festival will feature renowned jazz performances and activities along the Laura Street Corridor, The Jacksonville Landing, Hemming Plaza, Snyder Memorial Church, downtown businesses and vacant buildings.

This FREE festival will be transformed into a vibrant setting with multiple stages of entertainment, Art in the Heart Downtown Art Show & Sale, Wine Down Tasting Experience (ticketed), Generation Next Youth Talent Competition, children's educational activities, jazz exhibits and movies. Other festival highlights include the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition, 'Round Midnight Jazz Jam, Jazz Talk, CHOPS Documentary and Sunday Jazz Brunches. Rain or shine. The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is produced by the City of Jacksonville Office of Special Events.


When and where is it held?

The festival is held on May 21-24, 2009 over Memorial Day weekend in the heart of downtown Jacksonville. The festival will kick off on Thursday night at the Florida Theatre and the performances on Friday, May 22, Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24 will be held along the Laura Street Corridor from The Jacksonville Landing to Duval Street in a walkable street festival setting.


What is the admission price?

Admission to the festival on May 22-24 is free! However, there are Preferred Seating Packages that are available for purchase.


Is there parking available and what are my transportation options? What are the street closures?

There is ample parking in the downtown area and transportation options include the free Skyway Service provided by JTA and river taxi services. Ride your bike to the festival and take advantage of the free bike valet service.


What can I bring to the festival?

Prohibited Items
- Coolers or picnic baskets
- Still or video cameras of any kind
- Roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, bicycles or scooters
- Noise-makers (horns or whistles)
- Projectiles including balls or frisbees
- Poles or sticks
- Weapons or anything that could be construed as a weapon (including licensed guns)
- Signs or flags larger than 2' x 3'
- Pets
- Umbrellas (Ponchos are permitted)

- Bags larger than 8 1/2 x 11 are permitted will be subject to search
- Ponchos
- Chairs "in a bag"
- Strollers
- Bringing food or beverages into the festival site is discouraged as there will be many food and beverage vendors throughout. Beverages in glass bottles will not be permitted.


What about alcohol?

The festival site is an entertainment zone and open containers will be allowed during the Jacksonville Jazz Festival.
