  1. Charlie Crist is a pathetic governor. He has single-handedly wrecked the insurance market in our state, our schools are crumbling, and our tax structure is in the tank -- all this because of "the People's Governor." People my *ss! All this guy care's about is himself! Our country is $11 Trillion in debt and Charlie goes down to Ft. Myers with Obama and supports adding another trillion $ to our debt in the name of "economic stimulus." All that money is designed to do is get politicains re-elected -- at the expense of our children who will one day have to re-pay all this $ to the Chinese. Thanks but no thanks Governor. Your days are numbered!

  2. Our current governor has not demonstrated leadership qualities I would expect from a Boy or Girl Scout. He tries to play both ends and helps no one. Anyone who loves this country should vote for Marco Rubio. He is the only true patriot among the flock.

  3. I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR GOV.CRIST AGAIN! AFTER CRIST ENDORSED OBAMA AND HIS FAILED STIMULUS PACKAGE ON TV WAS A SLAP IN OUR REPUBLICAN FACES! YET ALONE ALL THE OTHER LIBERAL THINGS CRIST HAS DONE! GOD FORBID IF CRIST GETS IN! CRIST WILL BE THE DEMOCRATES BEST FRIEND ANOTHER ARLEN SPECTER! CRIST WILL VOTE WITH THE DEMOCRATES 50% OF THE TIME!! MY VOTE IS WITH A REAL REPUBLICAN THAT REMINDS ME OF A YOUNGER RONALD REGAN AND THAT IS MARCO RUBIO!! GO TO http://WWW.MARCORUBIO.COM AND DONATE LIBERAL CRIST OUT!!

    • If you want to be taken seriously, I would suggest you spell "Democrats" correctly. Then work on your confusion of facts with speculation.

Rubio's corrupt butt will never get a dime of my money.

      • How has Mr. Rubio been corrupt? Please tell....

      • I consider earmarks corruption in themselves. But pushing money somewhere and then getting a job from that same institution. People have been investigated for far less.

Rubio is not going to get any of my cash, he will have my vote in the general, but only because Meeks is much much worse.

  4. I'm tired of people trying to blame Gov Crist for all the problems in the World. First, if you live in Duval County and try to blame Gov Crist's Property Tax reform initiative (Amendment One) for our budget problems, then you don't know what you are talking about. Gov Crist made sure that there was a "Home Rule" clause in that Amendment which would have allowed our City Council to opt out of the reductions. They didn't do it, so blame them.
Secondly, just a couple months ago in the dark of the night a group from Jacksonville tried to get legislation passed which would have allowed the City Council to raise our sales tax 1/2% in the name of Indigent Care. They had unanimous support from the State Legislature and all they needed was Gov Crist to sign the bill into Law. This would have been the largest tax increase in the history of Jacksonville, and Gov Crist vetoed it because he believes that we as citizens should get to vote on tax increases like that. Thank you Gov Crist for protecting us from a tax that you know would have been passed in a second!
Also, people love to talk about how Gov Crist attended a rally with President Obama after he was elected. They also don’t like that he went on the record saying that our State needs more Federal Funding. First, I don’t like President Obama but if he comes to our State, then all of our Senior Elected Officials had better be there. It’s protocol, respectful and appropriate. Next, Gov Crist made sure that limits were made to Federal stimulus dollars that are almost exactly what Gov Jindal and Gov Sanford took as well. So would I rather have a Gov that stands on a soap box and makes great speeches about refusing dollars and then folds up like a cheap suit, or a Gov that keeps all his options on the table and then negotiates a hard line on specific programs from DOE and others concerning Unemployment Insurance. We elected this man to look out for Florida, your US Senators and Representatives passed stimulus and Gov Crist didn’t sway a single vote or negotiate an agenda item on this legislation. That’s just a silly argument that somehow he helped Obama’s stimulus package get passed, just silly. Give me a single person or idea that was impacted during the drafting and subsequent passing of this legislation due to Gov Crist’s comments…just name one.
Absolutely we have problems and I don’t agree with the Governor on every issue. However, he has kept and brought great transparency and dialogue to our Government. He has had the humility to acknowledge great programs enacted by Gov Bush and has carried them forward. Florida’s education ranking has sky rocketed in the last couple of years due to his commitment to Gov Bush’s programs. Just last week they reported two amazing records in the rate of adoptions due to his efforts.
He has also addressed many environmental issues in his administration. This is not rare ground for a Republican since President Teddy Roosevelt is the once that instituted the Department of the Interior. Many “Green” programs make good business sense, good political policy and common sense.
He’s not perfect, but he’s got my support.

    • What about the appointment of the uber-liberal Judge Perry?
      What about Charlie's pro-amnesty stance?
What of him promoting the Obama-porkulus pkg.?
What of him not wanting to drill offshore?

I can go on and on...Charlie Chuckles will vote with the Democraps half of the time. Do we really want this? Can we really afford this?

      NO!!

      Vote Marco Rubio!!

      • TJ-St Aug,
Glad we are on the same page and that we have both kept up with the news. Unfortunately some others are not as well informed.
Pro-Amnesty – Gov Crist stated that he would support the immigration policy that was put forth by Sen Martinez when he was Chairman of the RNC as it was endorsed by the Bush Administration. So it would be best to characterize his stance as agreeing with the plank of the RNC platform that allows illegal aliens a course towards citizenship that involves their return to their home country and legal application (starting at the back of the line) for citizenship. If someone wanted to suggest differently then they were wrong.
Offshore drilling – Gov Crist’s stance towards offshore drilling mirrors the RNC, Sen. McCain and practically every other member of the Republican Party. Years back, offshore drilling made no economical sense, and was therefore not a cost effective solution to our long term energy strategy. Due to recent technological advances and increasing costs of oil this option has been more embraced. Gov Crist stands in favor of Offshore drilling.

        Javier,
I have not agreed with some of Gov Crist’s judicial appointments, but TJ correctly points out that Gov Bush is the one that put Judge Perry on the Bench. Therefore, I find your arguments to be illinformed and misleading.

        Go Charlie Go!

    • Finally, Someone talking reasonably about Gov Crist's record! Thanks Silence! Please don't stay "silent" any longer.

Though I am a conservative and don't agree with Charlie on everything, I've got to say that he's been a reasonable center-right governor. Contrary to what others say, I've never heard of Charlie being pro-amnesty, he actually advocated for drilling (I distinctly remember him standing with McCain advocating for drilling offshore), Judge Perry was originally appointed by Jeb Bush, Charlie has appointed a number of conservative judges like Charles Canady and stands agaisnt Sotomayor, and Charlie stood up on behalf of Amendment 1 and Amendment 2. And as regards the stimulus, Gov Crist did make sure that limits were made to Federal stimulus dollars that are almost exactly what Gov Jindal and Gov Sanford took.
He's definitely not perfect, but he's got my support too.

      • FIRST OF ALL. CRIST FINALLY CAME OUT AND SAID HE WAS AGAINST SOTOMAYOR BECAUSE MARCO SAID HE WAS AGAINST HER FOR OVER A WEEK! WHILE CHARLIE WOULD NOT GIVE AN ANSWER ABOUT IT. AND CHARLIE STARTED TO GET FLACK ABOUT IT SO HE HAD TO SAVE FACE WITH THE CONSERVATIVES! SECOND YOU NEED TO PAY MORE ATENTION BECAUSE CRIST HAS SAID HE SUPPORTS AMNESTY WHY DO YOU THINK MEL MARTINEZ SUPPORTS CRIST. THIRD CRIST WAS AGAINST DRILLING .THEN HE WAS FOR IT BECAUSE IT GOT POPULAR WITH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND CRIST WANTED TO BE VP TO McCAIN SO CRIST BECAME A FAN OF DRILLING OFF SHORE. Hmmmmmmmm? FORTH.LIBERAL JUDGE PERRY WAS APPOINTED BY CRIST NOT BUSH. FIFTH. AND AS FAR AS AMENDMENT 1 & 2 WE ALL KNOW CHARLIE CRIST IS GAY! BUT TO BE GAY AND VOTE AGAINST GAY ISSUES MAKES YOU A BIG HYPOCRITE! SIXTH AND AS FAR AS LIMMITS ARE CONSERNED CRIST SHOULD OF NEVER TOOK THAT STIMULUS MONEY FROM OBAMA AT THAT TOWN HALL RALLY ON TV! WHILE THEY WERE CHEERING "YES WE CAN!" AND CRIST HAD A BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE! AND PLEASE DONT TELL ME YOUR CONSERVATIVE BECAUSE IF YOU WERE... YOU WOULD BE PISSED OFF AT CRIST AS WELL MR.RINO!

      • Dear "Stay in Broward",
Other than your annoying All Caps response, your argument is baseless and silly. If you are going to participate in this conversation please be more coherent and be able to recognize the facts and the comprehensive nature of our world.

        1. Sotomayer , really. You are really going to build a case against Gov Crist because he didn’t come out first with his opposition to a Supreme Court nominee when Senate Confirmation meetings hadn’t even begun and….oh yeah it doesn’t even matter because they can’t vote either way. A press release from either candidate on this issue really was silly and a waste of time. Neither candidate had a chance to review files, interview this candidate or be able to properly review this case. I agree that this nomination should be opposed, but I acknowledge that I am as horribly uninformed regarding this issue as are both of these candidates.

        2. Amnesty – Please research this situation more. Gov Crist was one of Mel Martinez’ Statewide Chairmen when he first ran for the Senate. They have a solid working relationship and good friendship. Amnesty has nothing to do with his endorsement; it is out of years of mutual respect. As for the material matter, I suggest that you should be the one reading. During a speech given to the “Daytona Beach Chamber Commerce, Crist said he would support an immigration bill similar to the failed 2007 legislation that many Republicans opposed because it provided a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. He went on to say, "I like Sen. Martinez' and Sen. McCain's approach.... I thought they had the right idea and maybe just a little more support up there would help it get it done.” If you would then read the plan (I did) you will see that the path involves illegal’s having to return home, wait a probationary period then apply for citizenship through legal means with their application going to the back of the line….hmmm….sounds reasonable but what do I know?

        3. Offshore Drilling – Nobody was even talking about offshore drilling until oil was over $150 a barrel. Then everyone looked at offshore drilling as an option. If you don’t recognize that we live in a dynamic world where situational business and political issues affect positions than you won’t understand.

        4. TJ-St Aug’s comments were relevant and true. Judge Perry was first appointed to the bench by Gov Bush. Gov Crist has later reappointed him to a higher office. Please calm down, turn off the caps and read more carefully next time. If Gov Bush was okay with Judge Perry’s philosophical leanings, then how can Gov Crist be so wrong?

        5. This statement tells me more about you, and less about Gov Crist. In the Fall of 2008, Amendment #1 was an amendment dealing with "aliens ineligible for citizenship" having rights to purchase property, or if you are talking about Amendment #1 “Save Our Homes” what could that or either possibly have to do with Gov Crist’s sexuality? What are you even talking about, that makes no sense? However, he did endorse and help pass Amendment 2, and I apologize but I am going to see a random and anonymous person making wild baseless attacks on our Governor’s character as you being bitter and sad. However, if you can demonstrate irrefutable and factual proof that Gov Crist is Gay and therefore a hypocrite, then I will sincerely apologize. Do you have that?

        6. Stimulus – Please get another drum to beat, it isn’t a reasonable argument. Which Governor would you hold up as an example as having handled the stimulus situation perfectly. The others that claimed on prime time TV that they’d push back, and then quietly when the cameras weren’t on took the same money that Gov Crist did. Please….and isn’t it time to get a new acronym (this word means that a series of letters that each represents the first letter of a longer phrase are used to create a shorter word) other than RINO. Dust off that old Barry Goldwater button and let’s get back in to the fight.

  5. Silence, I am very happy to say that we agree.

  6. WE NEED TO AT THE VERY LEAST NEUTRALIZE THE CONGRESS...THIS COUNTRY IS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE...FOR REAL!!!! WRITE YOUR PRESENT CONGRESS MAN, WRITE THE SENATORS WRITE EVERYONE WHOSE EMAIL YOU CAN GET A HOLD OF IN GOVT. THE INSANITY HAS TO STOP!! OUR VOICES HAVE TO BE HEARD...IS ANYONE LISTENING?????

  7. OH,PLEASE...CRIST SIGNED A BILL ALLOWING OVER 600.000 THOUSAND FELLONS TO HAVE A RIGHT TO VOTE AS SOON AS THEY GET OUT OF JAIL. AND MOST OF THEM ARE GONNA VOTE DEMOCRATE! CRIST HAS RAISED OUR TAXES ONE OF WICH WAS THE CIG TAX! CRIST HAD APOINTED A LIBERAL JUDGE TO THE BENCH WHO HAPPENS TO BE AGAINST GUN RIGHTS! CRIST IS FOR CAP & TRADE! CRIST IS FOR RADICAL CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL POLICES THAT WILL KILL OUR ECONOMY!CRIST IS PRO CHOICE PRO STEM STELL RESERCH! PRO GAMBALING! CRIST WAS AGAINST DRILLING OFF OUR SHORES THEN WAS FOR IT BECAUSE CRIST THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO BE A VP PICK! CRIST HAS DONE NOTHING TO FLORIDANS TO PROMOTE JOBS! UNEMPLOYMENT IS OVER 10%! CRIST SIGNED A BILL IN FAVOR WITH THE BIG COMPINES THAT LATER ARE GOING TO DONATE TO HIS CAMPAIGN MAKING IT LAW IN 2012 THAT ALL CONDOS THAT DONT HAVE A SPRINKLER AND FIRE ALARM SYSTEM MUST HAVE IT INSTALLED BY 2012 EVEN IF YOU DONT REALLY NEED IT. TRY AND EXPLAIN TO THE EDERLY THAT THEY MUST PAY 2 OR 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS THAT THEY DONT HAVE TO INSTALL FIRE SPRINKLERS! AND LETS NOT FORGET CRIST ENDORSING OBAMA AND HIS FAILED STIMULUS PACKAGE ON TV! WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE THAT WAS TO US REPUBLICANS! SO YOU MEAN TO TELL US REPUBLICANS THAT GOV.CRIST IS A GOOD GOVERNOR? AND WHY ISINT CRIST DEBATING MARCO RUBIO? WHY IS HE STILL RUNNING AWAY FROM MARCO? ALL CRIST DOES THESE DAY'S ARE FUNDRAISING & VACATION'S! IF CRIST WAS ELECTED HE WOULD VOTE 50% OF THE TIME WITH THE DEMOCRATES! IT'S EASY TO SAY THAT MARCO RUBIO IS OUR GUY! AND GOV CRIST IS NOT!! RUBIO-2010!!

  8. BREC,
After sifting through the Caps. Your assertion of Crist voting 50% with democrats is ridiculous and unfounded. The Maine twins dont even vote with the dems that much.

He is not debating Rubio because the campaign is still early.

Marco Rubio was a special interest whore all through his term as speaker and showed zero leadership on the budget, even though he arguably had more influence over the budget than the Governor.

Rubio is telling you everything you want to hear and you are lapping it up.

  9. Nice classy language Jose Marco Rubio has more class then you must have in a little finger. It would be nice to see your facts that you are basing your comments on. Maybe you don't have any. Please refrain from using vulgar language in your responses. Some of us do not like to read such trash.

    • You have to excuse Josie, he hangs out on Jaxoutloud- the place for Duval liberals to encourage each other. They are known for their bad tempers and equally bad language. Not to mention that they're just plain wrong.

      • Yeah, Jimbo, we are all liberals with bad language at JOL, blah blah blah. Got it, you are a funny witty guy.

Moving on, you are correct Tothe, to call him that word was inappropriate, but as the post below indicates, I am not even close to the king of bad taste on this board.

I will correct it now, he is a "shill" for the special interests. Particularly land developers. He also is a pork-hound, something I detest. I think he will win the primary, I will support him against Meeks, but he is not my first choice and will probably not get my money, just my vote. I will focus on other races.

  10. Jose," can you see?"That Sissy Crissy is afraid to debate Marco Rubio! And dont give me this bull about it's early stuff! Sissy Crissy has said that he was busy governing and Marco has replied he would debate Sissy Crissy on his open time and do it by internet video. The fact is that Sissy Crissy is afraid to debate Marco Rubio because Sissy Crissy cant debate Marco on the issues alone. Sissy Crissy will lose and Sissy Crissy knows that. So all I got to say is that Sissy Crissy needs to come out of the "CLOSET" and debate Marco Rubio like a man! COME OUT! COME OUT! WHERE EVER YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Rubio is the clear conservative choice.

  12. Thanks to Charlie's absurd state run insurance program, the next major hurricane will probably bankrupt the state of Florida.

  13. WAKE UP PEOPLE OF FLORIDA !!! Crist has the worst record of productivity for the citizens than any Governor in history. His one piece of legislation he lays claim to is the early term Homestead bill was one he stole from then Speaker of The House Marco Rubio. Crist's conduct for selfish purposes is unforgivable and he should NEVER be forgiven. His close following (check it out) is made up of people who want something or who he needs as pimps. Take GOP chairman, Greer. What a disgraceful performance he puts on, and all at the expense of the State Party Members who do not agree with him.

  14. I would not vote for Crist for several reasons, not the least of which is the absurdity of the country club Republicans (RNC) endorsing him before the primary. They are trying to get another RINO like Specter elected so they can stay in bed with the ultra liberals. Crist is not and never has been a conservative, so no matter how nice his tan if you want a Senator who will go up and vote and fight for the conservative causes - don't vote for Crist. You will notice the press loves him - a sure sign of a liberal.

    • Crist is nothing close to Spectre any more that he would "vote with Democrats 50% of the time". They will debate eventually, Rubio will probably win (unless Crist can really flood him out of the market) and I do not really know how he will do in the general.

  15. I will not support Charlie Crist, we have had enough of his swinging to the other side, he rides whatever that will support him, he has been in many positions in the state, and I do think many former supporters will not be checking his name off at the polls this time, we are going with Marco Rubio.

  16. My problem with Charlie Crist is not that he is a moderate or even that he was hugging Obama. My problem with him is that he has turned his back on the people of Florida. Because of his ambition there is now a fruit basket turn over in the State Government. We elected him to be our governor and before he has even completed one term, he runs for US Senate. From there he can make as many runs for President without giving up his seat. Crist is committed to one thing, himself. Marco Rubio served 4 terms in the state house and as speaker and has shown his commitment to people of Florida.

  17. I didn't vote for Chris in the primaries. I voted for Gallagher (remember him?). Chris is a clear RINO. Even before McCain was nominated, Charlie was all over him. On the issue of off-shore drilling, he was clearly AGAINST it. I know because I got into an email arguement with one of his idiot "MODERATE" staffers. I voted for Mel. He has been a total disappointment. He would probably be a great neighbor; someone I might go bowling with, but, NOT a senator. I want someone who will go to Washington, represent me, defend our country, and run over Harry Reid whenever he has to. Therefore, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR CHARLIE!

  18. As the only large county to vote against Amendment 1, the results to date are not surprising. There are still 13 months to the election. A lot can and will happen. I hope Jaxobserver does a poll every month and tracks the changes. Keep up the good work.

  19. I will not vote for Charlie either. He is the rino that gave us McCain as the GOP candidate, & we all know how that end up. He thought he was going to be McCain's VP pick & when he wasn't, he or his pal Greer did nothing to help McCain win Florida. Thanks Charlie for the 10% ethanol in the gasoline, this was done by his executive order. My car gets 19 mpg with ethanol 25 without. Every 100 miles I drive it cost me an extra gallon of gas, extra taxes paid, plus my 2003 car doesn't like the ethanol. The auto mechanic love ethanol due to the damage it causes to the engines, that they get to be repair. Crist stated that ethanol gas would slow down global warming. If he really cared about the enviroment then he would be against ethanol. The chemical fertilizers used for the inreased corn production, contaminates the rivers down into the gulf causing dead zones. The dead zones will take over the gulf without any factural science on global warming. Just 2 reasons why I will not vote for him.

  20. I HEARD FROM A FRIEND OF MINE THAT WORKS WITH THE CRIST CAMPAIGN THAT CRIST'S TEAM IS CALLING PEOPLE TO VOTE IN THIS POLL! WHAT A SNAKE CRIST IS! LOSER!!!

    • What is it with these people and “All Caps”?

I am a Crist supporter, and have no knowledge of these calls. However, are you suggesting that no Rubio supporter shared the existence of this poll with anyone else? Therefore, every vote for Rubio is solely due to these individuals being loyal readers of jaxobserver.com. Really, you think the Rubio folks did it like that? Recognizing that Gov Crist has outraised Rubio more than 10 to 1, and that every poll across the State has shown Crist destroying Rubio, yet somehow this one seems to suggest that the race is somewhat closer? Really?
Just trying to keep everyone “Intellectually Honest”.

      • Not looking to weigh in on the matter of Crist v. Rubio.... but yes, this is an unscientific poll subject to some gaming.

While I'd love to think all the votes came from loyal readers of the Jacksonville Observer, a few conservative blogs have linked to this poll and encouraged readers to vote for Rubio.

I suspect both sides engage in the same activity on these polls. But it's always interesting to see who has the most dedicated folks.

And I think the same has happened with Corrine Brown's vote total.

      • Also dont forget that Crist has more individual contributions than from special interests last quarter both in amount and percentage of total.

  21. Hey Silence Dogood, Marco Rubio won straw polls in Pasco county,Lee countuy and Monroe! All had Marco Rubio crushing Crist! Votes like 85-9 in Marco's favor and these are all rec's. That usualy tells you where the party is and who the voters want as a thier canidate. Allso all the polls on faceboof, twitter and alot of these republican websites and pac's they all have Marco way ahead of your boy Crist! Every conservative talk show's like Laura Ingram Hannity and now Rush all support Marco Rubio! Now I do understand that there are people out there that dont know Marco yet. But it's early. We have a hole year till the elections. And by then everyone will know who Marco is. And as far as the amount of money Crist has raised dosent mean he is a shoe in to win. Just look what happend to H.Clinton John McCain and Terry Mcauliffe they all had the BIG name and all had the BIG money 10-1 and they all lost! Marco has the people and the GRASSROOTS behind him! Obama loven liberal Crist is done! How can you believe when Crist supported Obama on tv and happens to be a liberal gov. That us republicans would vote for Crist? This is a republican primary & only republicans vote! No independants no democrats just republicans. And the base is mostly conservative! think about it. My vote is for Marco Rubio this time. Put a fork in Crist! The party is OVER!! LOL!!! RUBIO-2010!!!!

    • I too think that Rubio will win. However, for reasons I stated above I dont think it is best for Florida.

Of course straw polls of REC is Lee and Pasco are hardly scientific. They are the MOST conservative counties of substantial population in the state. Monroe is interesting but the Republicans in Monroe are also more rural and Conservative in nature. I would expect that would skew the results. Crist still has a big following among urban Republicans and I expect he will use his substantial effort to get out the vote among that crowd.

What about Marco's record as speaker can he really hang his hat on in your opinion?

    • Dear Sally,
Straw polls in REC’s are hardly a scientific and mathematical method that can be used to measure voter sentiment. For example, there is no way Sen. McCain would have won in these kinds REC polls either. I suggest you refer back to any professionally done poll (There are several posted in the archives on this site). When the comparison is made between Crist and Rubio the sampling is done from likely Republican Voters. When a comparison is drawn for general election results, the sampling is expanded to include all likely voters. These polls are carefully measured to avoid pockets of like-minded groups such as small county REC memberships. They include dry cleaners, bus drivers and auto mechanics who have all voted for Charlie Crist for Statewide elections such as Education Commissioner, Attorney General and Governor, they remember that he lowered their taxes and they will vote for him again. You might be able to turn an undecided voter, but once they have voted for a candidate it is extremely difficult and costly to try and turn them in the future. Understanding that every poll had Gov Crist in the mid to high 50’s this means Rubio will have to win every undecided and turn tens and tens of thousands of people that have already consciously made the choice to support Gov Crist.

Like Straw polls, those done on facebook, twitter, etc are unscientific and are fun but are not predictors of general voter sentiment.
As for talk show hosts, I haven’t seen any official endorsements from all of those that you have mentioned. Maybe you can send the link. However, Crist continues to roll out a staggering number of Statewide and National endorsements. On the National scene, some of them include Sen. McConnell (the minority whip in the US Senate) and the leadership for the US Senatorial Election Committee. You will therefore see a long and impressive list of surrogates lining up on Gov Crist’s behalf. These surrogates believe in Gov Crist and will sacrifice their time and resources to travel to Florida to help Campaign. As opposed to a couple of call out on the radio, and no real sign of support.

As for the money, I am sorry but your comparison is factually incorrect, and actually proves my point better than I was able to do. Sen. McCain trailed the field in fundraising from the start. Gov Romney had the money in the Republican primary. Your assertion here is completely wrong. Likewise, Sen. Clinton may have had a brief very early lead in money, but Barack Obama blew away every fundraising record set by any political candidate. No person in the history of politics has ever come close to raising the hundreds of millions of dollars that Barack Obama did. His huge fundraising advantage (which by the way was only 3 to 1, not the 10 to 1 that Gov Crist has) definitely helped him frame the campaign and saturate the air waves. Truly, at this rate Rubio would barely have enough money to run a respectable Mayoral race in Jacksonville, not to mention a costly Statewide Campaign. Speaker Thrasher raised almost as much money in a few weeks for his State Senate bid, as Rubio did for the whole quarter.

As for the reality of this Campaign, I realize that there is a long time until the election. However, I ask you to share with me any candidate that has ever had the immense fundraising and polling deficit that Rubio has, and has overcome them to win a nomination (We haven’t even gotten to the argument that Rubio can’t beat Meeks in a general election and Crist can). I appreciate your enthusiasm, but there is no realistic path that gives Rubio a win in this Primary, so at best his odds aren’t impossible but certainly implausible.

Finally, please don’t misconstrue my support for Gov Crist as being disrespectful to Rubio. I think he has a bright future in our Party, but is just in the wrong race. It is too bad because enthusiastic loyal Republican volunteers will end up wasting their time and money supporting Rubio’s hopeless campaign, while Bill McCollum truly needs the help in his gubernatorial bid. If Sink wins the Governor’s Mansion, then we enter into statewide redistricting and a Democratic Governor can easily sway the balance (and lines) resulting in the Republicans losing control of the State Senate in the near future.

  22. lets not forget Rubio crushing Crist at the Highland county gop. 75-1

  23. Sorry Charlie, I.m for Rubio.
No more business as usual politics.

    • Are you kidding me? Rubio did nothing meaningful for the budget problems while he was Speaker of the House! He brought home thousands to an insitution he later took a 69K a year Part-time job with.

But no, he is not business as usual at all.

  24. Charlie Crist is a democ'rat disguised as Republican. He promised and failed providing meaningful property tax rreform, contributing to create the current mess and making Florida the WORST real estate market in the country and #1m in foreclosures. He embraced Obama's fake stimulus money as the 'solution' to Florida's economic stagnation. Since then, unemployment has surged through the roof almost reaching 15% while the fake Obama dollars have only 'saved' unsustainable overpaid unproductive Government jobs.

Crist is a disgrace to the state and to fiscally-conservative Republicans, and will only be supported by those false 'repuplican' parasites hooked in the governments pipeline and waiting for their bloated pensions to kick in. But be ready for a surprise, as Florida state may file for bankruptcy after Obama's dollars evaporate, as tax collections wont be there to sustain bloated Government expenses and pensions.

Why do you think Charlie Coward is trying to run out of here?

  25. When is the poll going to end?

  26. Ya, I argree. This poll is getting old! And boaring! Jax observer needs to come up with something new! Marco Rubio won this thing allready!! Let's move on. We all know Crist has lost this election!

  27. OK! OK! I GET IT! MARCO YOU WIN! I'LL STAY AS GOVERNOR!

    CHARLIE CRIST.

  28. Every other online poll has Marco smashing Chuckie 10 to 1 because only the politically aware vote in these polls. I even know liberals who support Marco b/c at least he's honest. So can Chuckee's guys please stop revoting and revoting - YOU'RE STILL LOSING.

    • Yeah, Rubio supporters would NEVER revote.

As for Liberals supporting Rubio, I call B.S.

Chill out, there is alot of election to go.

  29. time to hang them all and start over with a clean slate..........

  30. IT'S ALL OVER FOR CRIST! GO RUBIO!! http://WWW.MARCORUBIO.COM

  31. Straw poll at BREC meeting August 24th 6:00 pm!! Rubio vs Crist.

  32. MY MONEY IS ON MARCO RUBIO!!!!!

  33. Straw poll at BREC meeting August 24th - 6:00 pm. Rubio vs Crist.

  34. Why would Rubio supporters not vote? Stupidest thing i've heard. He has remained faithful to his word. Pushing for Tax cuts, fighting insurance companies, fighting against fraud & putting families first. I think with obamas approval rating At 50% liberals in Florida will make the right choice and vote Rubio. He is really the ONLY intelligent choice.
