Campaign Trail Updates
CAMPAIGN TRAILER – THE WEEK IN FLORIDA CAMPAIGNS
Democrat CHRIS CHIARI may challenge incumbent Democratic Rep. EVAN JENNE in Broward-based House District 100, the Miami Herald and The New Times both reported Friday. Chiari has run before in District 91, and lost twice to Rep. ELLYN BOGADANOFF, R-Fort Lauderdale. Chiari is planning to try to paint Jenne, D-Dania Beach, as beholden to special interests. Jenne countered in the Herald that he gave money to Chiari in 2008 and was one of the few non-lawyers to donate to Chiari.
STEVENS KICKS OFF RUN FOR DISTRICT 91
Meanwhile, Democrat FREDA SHERMAN STEVENS, who lost to Jenne in 2008, held a campaign kickoff on Friday evening in Fort Lauderdale as she jumps in the District 91 race. The incumbent, Bogdanoff, is running for Senate. Republicans DAVID MAYMON and YOMIN POSTELNIK are already in the District 91 House race.

- Former Democratic Rep. JAMES “HANK” HARPER, who failed to qualify for an Aug. 25 special state House election to replace Rep. Taylor was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Palm Beach County Commission Running in the Democratic primary againt Thomas for the District 84 seat is Delray Beach Commissioner MACK BERNARD, who on Monday was endorsed by outgoing incumbent Taylor and another former holder of the seat, ADDIE GREENE.
- U.S. Senate candidate KENDRICK MEEK was endorsed on Friday by Democratic U.S. Rep. KATHY CASTOR of Tampa, not much of a surprise now that Meek is the only big name Democrat in the race to replace retiring U.S. Sen. MEL MARTINEZ.
