September 15th Set as Date for Special Election
Governor Charlie Crist has set September 15th as the date for a special election to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Jim King. This date was a bit earlier than expected.
Meanwhile, Linda King has confirmed what everyone has already expected by officially saying that she will not attempt to seek her husband's seat.
"While I am deeply honored and humbled to have been asked to run for my late husband's Senate seat, it is not my intention to fill his place even though I feel strongly about the issues he cared so much about," she said. "Jim and I came in to this together, and will be leaving the political process together."
The current candidates are all Republicans: Former Speaker John Thrasher, Councilman Art Graham, and businessman Dan Quiggle. Former State Representative Aaron Bean is in the race, but expected to pull him name out of consideration sometime this week.
