John Thrasher Endorsed by National Rifle Association
The National Rifle Association (NRA) and Unified Sportsmen of Florida (USF) have announced their endorsement of Republican Candidate John Thrasher in the special election to fille State Senate District 8.
“John Thrasher’s unwavering pro-sportsmen, pro-Second Amendment, pro-freedom record has earned him our endorsement and gratitude,” said Marion Hammer, past president of the NRA and executive director of USF. “We urge our members and all citizens of Senate District 8, who support the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to put Freedom first and vote for John Thrasher.”
“I thank the NRA and Unified Sportsmen of Florida for their endorsement of my candidacy and for their continued commitment to the gun owners and sportsmen of Florida,” said Thrasher. “I am a strong supporter of our Second Amendment rights and I will continue to fight for these rights if given the privilege of serving North Florida in the Florida Senate.”
The endorsement is a boost to Thrasher's campaign and likely something of a disappointment to the libertarian-leaning supporters of candidate Dan Quiggle, who is also a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. The NRA has also sent a direct mail postcard out urging voters to support Thrasher because of his "A+" rating on gun issues.
