Gators Roll Over CSU in First Outing
The Gators took the field in front of 90,000 screaming fans on Saturday night.
They weren't perfect, but they didn't need to be since they weren't remotely in the same league with the other team on the field - Charleston Southern University's Buccaneers.
CSU went into the game as the 73-point underdog, and they clearly tried to get off to a strong start. But once Tim Tebow got a little bit of momentum going, it was just one touchdown after another for the Gators.
You can't say CSU didn't play hard. They were just totally outmatched. It was like watching a Godzilla movie where our human weapons are practically useless... yet we continue to try and fight the monster with everything we have.
Down 35-0 in the first half and desperate to put something on the scoreboard, the Bucs kicked a 38-yard field goal to make the score 35-3. However, CSU's celebration was very short-lived as Gator Brandon James completed an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the very next play.
“The team played well, everyone played hard and we executed pretty well,” Tebow said. “It wasn’t perfect and we need to improve, but we’re always going to be looking to improve. Guys stepped up and made plays so it was a good day.”
Next Saturday Florida takes on Troy at 12:15 pm.
