Thursday Night’s TV Picks
It's the busiest TV night since the season ended, with multiple shows premiering or returning.
Odds are Amy Poehler will be better served by her guest return to "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" (NBC, 8 p.m. ET/PT) than by her star turn on her seemingly hopeless sitcom "Parks&Recreation" (NBC, 8:30 p.m. ET/PT). All plot and no point, the second season premiere is chemistry and humor free.
You're better off with a strong "Bones" (Fox, 8 p.m. ET/PT) season opener that builds upon and may even redeem the much disparaged season finale. Urged on by a psychic (Cyndi Lauper), Booth is almost ready to tell Bones he loves her. But first he has to solve a murder - and figure out whether love is merely a lingering by-product of a coma-induced dream.
Stay with Fox for an excellent, startling season premiere of "Fringe" (9 p.m. ET/PT). Olivia comes back from an alternate universe just in time to track down a killer whose methods will send a chill down your spine and a jolt through the show.
If you have a DVR, save a place for an unusually funny outing of "The Office" (NBC, 9 p.m. ET/PT). After Michael makes a rumor-mongering mess, Jim and Pam save the day - and, as they often do, the episode.
