What’s On TV Tonight?

Whatever your response to last week's "House" (Fox, 8 p.m.) movie special, put it aside. In many ways, the real season gets underway tonight, as an at least partially recovered House returns to his home base hospital and the show returns to normal form. Or maybe not, seeing as House has some new ideas about how his life should go - and they may take his focus away from tonight's patient, a video game creator who prefers to get his cure from the Internet.

There are changes afoot at "Lie to Me" (Fox, 9 p.m.), which is being retooled by its new producer, Shawn Ryan of "The Shield." Whether that sounds promising to you probably depends on how fond you were of "The Shield," combined with how disappointed you were by the first season of "Lie. "

On the season premiere of "Two and a Half Men" (CBS, 9 p.m.), Charlie refused to let Alan's girlfriend move in. Tonight his fiance Chelsea gets involved, and the answer changes from "no" to "yes."

It took them the whole first hour to get there, but Castle and Beckett are (thank goodness) back as a team and ready to solve this week's murder on ABC's smoothly enjoyable "Castle" (10 p.m.). Speed will be of the essence this week, as they're in a race with Ryan and Esposito to see which pairing can solve a murder first. The smart money's on Castle.
