Atlanta Store Overrun with Brides
ATLANTA -- Pamplona, Spain, has nothing on Buckhead during bridal season.
An estimated 2,000 people raced into an Atlanta Filene's Basement Friday morning for a chance to find the perfect wedding dress at the annual Running of the Brides, the first of Filene's bridal events this year.
The gowns, which normally run from $900 to $10,000, were going for $250 to $700.
Hundreds camped out overnight for first dibs, bringing along friends, family members and even fiances. For that first crash of crowds, the goal was to grab as many dresses as possible as soon as they got inside, regardless of style or size.
Latecomers simply had to wait for leftovers, and there were plenty.
As of 6:30 p.m Friday, over 1,000 of the 2,600 dresses for sale were still available.
