NRA and Unified Sportsmen Back John Thrasher
“This position reflects our appreciation for John Thrasher and the strong stance that he has taken on supporting and defending our Second Amendment rights,” said Marion Hammer, past president of the NRA and executive director of USF. “His record has proven that he is a staunch and unwavering supporter of gun owners and sportsmen in Northeast Florida and throughout our state. The NRA and USF are happy to offer him our endorsement, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in the Florida Senate.”
In the wake of this endorsement, Thrasher will appear as a guest on today's episode of "What's the Buzz" hosted by Cindy Graves and Lenny Curry on ABC 1320 WBOB.
“I am grateful for the support of the NRA and Unified Sportsmen of Florida and their endorsement of my re-election campaign for Senate District 8,” said Thrasher. “Our Second Amendment rights are guaranteed, and if elected, I pledge to continue to defend and advocate for the rights of gun owners in Northeast Florida.”
From 1998 to 2000, Thrasher served as the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, championing tough on crime legislation such as “Three Strikes, You're Out” and “10-20-Life.”
Thrasher will face Republican Charles Perniciaro in the August 24 primary. The winner of that election will go one to the general election against Democrat Deborah Gianoulis.
