Pezo Pals Invented by 11 Year-Old Michael Georges 2012 Toy of the Year
A young inventor in Boca Raton, Florida is becoming quite the sensation all around the country. How young you ask? William Georges is only 11 years old and invented a toy that is now listed as one of the top toys for Christmas 2012. That's right and 11 year old has went from concept, to invention to hit toy in just one year.
It all happened when William Georges was asked as part of a class assignment to invent a product and bring it to class. George was currently six years old then and had taken his Teddy Bear and turned it into a talking one. George was interviewed by WLFI Channel 18 and said, "I took my mom's MP3 player, and there was a hole in my teddy bear." From there the invention took off and evolved after George's parents got involved.
The invention has been branded as Pezo Pals and has become an interactive toy that tells up to 100 stories. The Pezo Pal invention plays music and even allows you to record in your own voice sayings and play them back. George's vision was realized and has now hit store shelves. One of the stores is a South Florida toy store called Learning Express.
Just recently the Learning Express, with six locations, got the Pezo Pals in stock and has seen a good amount of success. In the interview with WLFI one of Learning Express's employees, Mark Monaroe said they had sold about six or seven of the interactive Pezo Pal toys in just one day.
Other incredible news for William Georges Pezo Pals is that Creative Child has named the interactive MP3 Teddy Bear as 2012 Toy of The Year. The publication is produced every year and they explain their toy inspection and awarding process on their site. They state the toy review process as the following:
"Creative Child Magazine's Awards Program is unique in that all products submitted are reviewed by moms, music educators and early education professionals. Products are not reviewed by any one person. They are reviewed by many people-the very people who purchase them.
Each year, a 2-day event is held in Henderson, Nevada where over a hundred guest reviewers are invited to attend our organized review event at our local convention center. All products are divided into categories and displayed at various review stations. Guest reviewers are asked to sit and review each products at one station and then move to another station and so forth and so on. This allows for each product to be given multiple reviews."
So if you were wondering what hot toy this year might take the United States by storm, this is one good candidate. The only bad part for now is the places you can buy Pezo Pals is pretty limited. Michael Georges hopes to change that with his next goal. What is that you say? Well, Michael has told people that he loves watching the hit ABC series, Shark Tank. Michael thinks that his next step is to get his Pezo Pals on the show and get more expertise and funding to expand his interactive toy line and get distribution partners. Pretty amazing for an 11 year old kid.
