Amber Alert Issued for Two Florida Boys Kidnapped by Parents
A Florida Amber Alert was issued for two boy who were kidnapped by their parents from their grandmother's house on Wednesday evening.
Authorities say Cole Hakken, 4, and Chase Hakken, 2, were last seen on Shady Shores Drive in Tampa, Florida.
Cole Hakken is described as being 3 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 44 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Chase Hakken is 3 feet tall and weighs 33 pounds. He also has brown hair and brown eyes
According to a press release from the Hillsborough County, Florida Sheriff’s Office, Joshua Hakken, 35, entered the grandmother’s home around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, tied the grandmother up and kidnapped his sons, Chase and Cole.
The father first fled with the boys in the grandmother's 2009 silver Toyota Camry, but the vehicle was recovered a few blocks from the residence and investigators believe they are now in their own truck.
Florida authorities say they could be traveling in a black 2006 GMC Sierra pickup truck owned by their father.
The truck has a Florida tag number U95KT and may be pulling a pop-up camper. It was last seen in the area of Highway 30 and Highway 411 in Etowah, Tennessee on Wednesday around 8 p.m.
The boys’ mother, 34-year-old Sharyn Patricia Hakken, was also listed by the sheriff’s office as a suspect in the boys’ abduction.
“Both suspects are anti-government and have attempted a previous abduction at gunpoint in Louisiana,” the sheriff’s office said in the press release. Both are believed to be armed and dangerous.
Late Wednesday afternoon, a search warrant has been served on Joshua and Sharyn Hakken's home in South Tampa and the sheriff's office has issued a warrant for Joshua Hakken's arrest on two counts of kidnapping, two counts of child neglect, two counts of false imprisonment, one count of burglary with batter, and one count of grand theft auto.
According to WTSP, the boys were originally removed from Hakken's custody last year in Louisiana following multiple drug charges. While in foster care, Joshua Hakken allegedly showed up at the foster care facility waving a gun and began beating on the front door. He fled the scene without his children after he was unable to enter the secured facility.
Authorities ask if you have seen this vehicle or the children, you are urged to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
